Coach Eric Chelle has said he is looking forward to the resumption of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a lot more confidence after he guided the Super Eagles to win the Unity Cup in London.
In September, Nigeria will welcome second-placed Rwanda to Uyo, before a tough visit to table toppers South Africa a few days later.
They are now six points adrift of leaders South Africa with four rounds of matches to the end of the qualifying series.
However, the Super Eagles coach has demanded more work by the team to keep hope alive in these qualifiers.
“We scored goals, created chances and showed good signs in our overall play,” he said while reviewing the performance of the Super Eagles at the Unity Cup.
“What matters most is playing together – in both attack and defence.
“We have to keep improving both physically and mentally. We must become true warriors on the pitch.
“We must grow stronger as a group and as a team especially if we’re serious about reaching the World Cup.”
