Super Eagles coach comments on Iheanacho, Victor Boniface

Coach Augustine Eguavoen has commented on Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Boniface in the Super Eagles.

Both strikers have struggled on national team duty in recent times.

Iheanacho’s call-up caused a stir and he was underwhelming in 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda this past week.

“He’s an asset, but he has not been living up to expectations, he needed some encouragement,” Eguavoen said.

“I spoke to him personally.

“There was pressure on him, but he couldn’t handle it.”

The Super Eagles coach insisted Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface will remain part of the national team even though he has failed to score for Nigeria.

“He will remain part of the squad,” he said.

“We know what he is capable of doing, but it hasn’t worked with the Super Eagles.”
