Super Eagles captain salutes Eric Chelle, Osimhen

Super Eagles captain William Ekong has hailed coach Eric Chelle and Victor Osimhen after they recorded their first win in the 2026 World Cup qualifying series today in Rwanda.

Osimhen first half brace lifted Nigeria to a first-ever victory in Rwanda.

The Super Eagles have now climbed to fourth in Group C with six points from five matches.

“I want to congratulate the coach for his first win, the game was not easy. We tried to understand what the coach wanted us to do,” a happy Ekong said after the victory in Kigali.

“Osimhen is a fantastic player, we have a lot of great players.

We had a great game as a team,

“Tolu (Arokodare) made his debut, and Alhassan (Yusuf) played as a right-back.”

The victorious Super Eagles will fly out tomorrow to Uyo, where they are expected to beat bottom team Zimbabwe Tuesday to firmly get their World Cup qualification back on track.
