StarTimes Nigeria serves its customers through antenna signal transmission (DTT) and satellite transmission (DTH). The packages under the two transmission modes vary slightly.

Difference between StarTimes decoders

During a discussion with Chinedu Lazarus Ibeabuchi, the senior marketing communications and public relations (PR) manager at StarTimes Nigeria, he shed light on the distinctions among StarTimes decoders.

According to him, the antenna transmission works like a digital terrestrial television (DTT), while the dish (satellite) transmission operates as a direct-to-home (DTT) system.

StarTimes offers antenna and dish Pay-TV packages to meet different households’ entertainment needs and financial abilities. The pricier a package is, the more channels you can view. You can change packages whenever you please.

Our DTH decoder transmits more channels, and many channels are in HD. StarTimes DTT has about 100 TV channels, while the DTH has over 130 channels (100+ TV channels and 20+ audio channels). The DTT decoder is N9900, while the DTH decoder is N13,500 for a new one.

Ibeabuchi announced that StarTimes plans to promote and engineer the growth of local sports in the country, hence its 5-year partnership deal with the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). He said:

So, the deal (worth ₦5.9 billion) will help improve the domestic league as live matches will return to the screens.
