Sports lawyer: Libya to lose AFCON qualifier vs Super Eagles or replay on neutral venue

Sports lawyer Amobi Ezeaku has given an insight to what he expects to be the verdict CAF will deliver on a 2025 AFCON qualifier between Libya and Nigeria after the Super Eagles boycotted the game on account of being held hostage for many long hours in North Africa.

Ezeaku, who is also chief executive of NPFL champions Enugu Rangers, said that based on the facts at his disposal CAF will either award the three points and three goals to the Super Eagles or order for the game to be played at a neutral venue on another date.

CAF have opened investigation into the episode through their disciplinary board.

Meanwhile, former NFF technical committee chairman, Chris Green, said visiting teams across Africa have faced the kind of ordeal the Super Eagles went through in Libya and there was an urgent need for CAF to come down hard on Libya in this matter.

“What the Super Eagles went through is condemnable and very unfortunate and I expect CAF to sanction Libya to serve as a deterrent,” he said.
