Son of Super Eagles star sets top target in Belgium

Kaye Furo, the son of former Super Eagles defender Furo Iyenemi, has set a personal target for the new season – finish top scorer in the Belgian second division.

Furo, who joined Club Brugge seven years ago from Antwerp, has thus far netted four goals in as many matches in the Belgian second-tier league.

The 17-year-old striker said he wishes to finish as top scorer of the league now.

“I am of course happy with every chance to play,” Furo told Het Nieuwsblad.

“I feel good about myself and dare to show my true colours. I would simply love to become top scorer in 1B.

“That may be a high expectation, but it is a goal for me.”

At the weekend, he scored his fourth goal against Seraing.

“I feel in excellent condition the last few weeks and I am very happy with that goal against Seraing,” he said.

“At Club NXT we are starting to find each other better and that pays off. Also for me, because in that way I am more often in position and that has already resulted in a number of nice goals.”
