Shooting Stars eight-game unbeaten run in the NPFL was ended today at Kwara United in a rescheduled match, while Kano Pillars and Bendel Insurance recorded home wins.
Shooting Stars fell 2-0 at Kwara United with goals from captain Kabiru Mohammed and new signing Ojifini Abdullahi, but maintained second place with 40 points from 23 matches.
They are now eight points adrift of leaders Remo Stars.
In Kano, hosts Kano Pillars returned to winning ways after a 2-1 win over El Kanemi Warriors.
Pillars goalkeeper Abuchi Destiny was Man of the Match after he kept out the rampant El Kanemi in the first half, while in the second half he pulled off a string of top-class saves to ensure Rashid Alasan 90th minute winner gave interim coach Ahmed Garba ‘Yaro Yaro’ his first win.
Rabiu Ali opened scoring from the penalty spot for the home team, before El Kanemi drew level also from a penalty.
Pillars have now climbed to ninth in the standings with 32 points.
Bendel Insurance also got the maximum points in front of their home fans on the back of a 55th minute winner by Kayode Oke.
They are now 15th on the table with 28 points.
