SCORENigeria Top 5: Osimhen rocks Turkey with goals and kisses

The big story out of Europe this past week was that Victor Osimhen scored his first goals for new club Galatasaray and kissed the jersey of the Istanbul giants.

Kaye Furo – 5 goals for Club Brugge NXT

5.Kaye Furo

The 17-year-old son of former Super Eagles defender Furo Iyenemi is truly turning heads in Belgium with ClubNXT in the second-tier league. He is joint top scorer with five goals after he scored a wonder goal he initiated beginning from his penalty and going all the way to finish off at the other end of the pitch with a left-footed shot. Even as a teenager, Kaye already has an intimidating physical presence and will be a true force of nature sooner rather than later. He is certainly another prospect for Super Eagles handlers to keep an eye on even though he has already featured for Belgium at various age-grade levels.

4.Chrisantus Uche

The young player put a Man of the Match performance for La Liga club Getafe to record their first win of the season versus Alaves. This was after his controversial interview during which he lashed out at referees for not protecting him enough and also spoke on racism in the Spanish top flight. The president of his club has openly disagreed with Uche. Hopefully, this issue will be put behind by all the parties involved and the focus will return to the football.

3.Chidera Ejuke

The dribbling wizard continued to knock on the door for a recall to the Super Eagles with another crucial goal contribution for Sevilla at Athletic Bilbao. Ejuke provided an exciting assist for Sevilla to snatch a late an equaliser at Athletic. This was after his late match winner the previous matchday. He is showing a consistency that was also flagged as his biggest undoing. He deserves a recall by the Super Eagles for forthcoming 2025 AFCON qualifying double-header against Libya.

2.Dele Bashiru

The Super Eagles forward scored his first goal for Lazio and also delivered an assist in a UEFA Europa League tie at Dynamo Kiev. It has not been a seamless transition from Turkey to Italy but gradually the attacking midfielder is finding his mojo at his new club. Super Eagles should be better off with the new-found confidence of Dele-Bashiru.

1.Victor Osimhen

Finally, the Napoli loanee scored his first goals for Galatasaray at fellow Istanbul club Kasimpasa. He assisted in three straight games for his new club before his brace against Kasimpasa at the weekend. His second goal was world-class, he held off his marker inside the box before he let fly. He has now scored two goals and made four assists for ‘Gala’ amid reports that the Turkish champions are contemplating a sensational permanent transfer for the Super Eagles star striker. His exploits in Turkey have also not gone unnoticed in Italy, where the Napoli fans are at war with him for kissing the Galatasaray jersey…
