Sadiq Umar transfer standoff costs him Super Eagles place

Sadiq Umar looks set to miss out on the Super Eagles final squad for next month’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa on account of a transfer standoff with his European club.

Sadiq made the Super Eagles provisional squad for the World Cup qualifiers, but his lack of action due to this standoff may now cost him a place on the final squad.

Spanish La Liga club Real Sociedad are interested in including Sadiq in a deal to lower the cost of acquiring Yangel Herrera from Girona.

However, Sadiq remains firm on returning to Valencia and is not considering other options.

Radio MARCA Valencia has now reported that Sadiq is growing impatient due to the lack of solutions.

Real Sociedad are not counting on him and have excluded him from the squad list, but they are firm on their conditions for his transfer.

In this summer transfer window, transfer sagas have involved Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman and now Sadiq Umar.
