Abidjan has proved to be a lucky ground for Benin and coach Gernot Rohr has said he hopes that this will continue when they welcome Rwanda to their adopted home tomorrow in continuation of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The former Super Eagles coach said: “We’ve played in Abidjan thrice. We’ve been lucky enough to win each time and we’d like to continue this way.
“To win against this Rwandan team, it won’t be easy. It was already difficult in June, when we won 1-0, and it will be even more difficult tomorrow. But we believe we can do it.”
The Cheetahs are second in Group D with three points from two matches after they beat Libya 2-1 following a 3-0 loss in Nigeria last month.
They are happy they have man-mountain central defender Mohamed Tijani back after injury ruled him out of action last month.
Rohr has also insisted on picking striker Jodel Dossou, who is still without a club.
