Rohr confident Benin will qualify for 2025 AFCON

Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has backed his team Benin to qualify for the 2025 AFCON even though they will be up against home team Libya in Tripoli today.

Benin are second in Group D and will join the Super Eagles at Morocco 2025 should they avoid a heavy defeat in Libya and third-placed Rwanda to do record a shock win in Nigeria.

“We will qualify for the AFCON even if we have to play a very hot game against Libya today,” declared Rohr, whose job as Benin top post is most likely to be decided on qualification for the 2025 AFCON.

“A draw in Libya will be enough for us.”

However, Rohr questioned CAF decision to allow Libya to play this game at home even after the hostage drama involving the Super Eagles last month.

“I am surprised that Libya will still be allowed to play at home after what happened with the Super Eagles,” he said.

Rohr rated the 1-1 draw with the Super Eagles Thursday in Abidjan as “a good match played under difficult conditions”.
