Promise David backs his club to be champions of Belgium

Bullish Promise David has backed Union St.Gilloise to be crowned champions of Belgium this season.

The striker, who has applied to change his international allegiance from Nigeria to Canada, said Union can build on what they showed against Ajax in the Europa League to be the best team in Belgium.

“Can we play for the title? Of course that is possible. If we can bring the same intensity as against Ajax, we have nothing to be afraid of,” he declared.

Union are third in the standings with 46 points from 26 matches in the regular season.

They are 14 points adrift of leaders Genk, but for the championship playoffs after the regular season, total points in regular season are halved.

On a personal note, David has also been flying high as he has now scored 13 goals in all competitions for the Brussels club he joined last summer.

“That I have already scored thirteen times this season?”,  he asked brimming with full confidence.

“Let’s do the math. Eight in the league, four in the cup and one in Europe.

“Did I expect this number of goals at the start of the season? Yes.

“Everyone sets goals for themselves and wants to score goals.”
