Victor Osimhen’s wonder overhead goal for Galatasaray at Antalyaspor is still being talked about with the striker himself asking why it will not be voted the best goal scored in the world this year.
On Saturday, Osimhen came off the bench to score his third Turkish Super Lig goal as Galatasaray romped to a 3-0 win at Antalyaspor.
In added time and with his back to goal, he delivered a spectacular bicycle kick that rocketed into the roof of the net.
The striker was asked: Would the goal be a candidate for Puskas (award for best goal in the world).
Osimhen replied: “It could be. But the most important thing is the team. Maybe it could be a candidate. Why not? A classy goal like this, it could be.”
The Napoli loanee described the goal as “incredible”, admitted he has always wanted to score such a goal and dedicated it to Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk, who celebrated his birthday on the day.
He further said: “I want to score as many goals as I can for this team. Whenever I get the chance, I will fight for the team.”
Defending champions Galatasaray are now seven points clear at the top of the Turkish Super Lig standings after nine rounds of matches.
