Ifeoma Onunomu scored Nigeria’s first-ever goal against home team France tonight, but it was not enough for them to get a result from this friendly in Angers.
Montpellier striker Onumonu pulled a goal back for Nigeria in first half stoppage time.
However, the home team had already wrecked havoc before then with two strikes by Le Sommer and Amel Majri for France to record their fifth victory over the nine-time African champions.
The Super Falcons paid dearly for allowing France time and space to run at their defence.
But for a couple of top saves by captain and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, they would have lost by a bigger margin.
After the break, the Super Falcons were more organised at the back and along with Nnadozie’s saves ensured there were no more goals in this entertaining contest.
In stoppage time, star defender Osinachi Ohale was sent off after her second booking.
