The Super Eagles have put behind them the harrowing experience they were put through in Libya last month and will be ready for final 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda, a top official said.
Last month, the Super Eagles were held like hostages for over 20 hours at an abandoned airport in Libya causing a 2025 AFCON qualifier involving the North African team to be called off.
“What happened in Libya last month won’t affect the players as we have got justice with CAF giving Nigeria the maximum three points,” said the team’s co-ordinator Patrick Pascal.
“Also, the players would have felt somehow had they not received the full support of both the NFF and the Nigerian government.
“The federation and the Nigerian government were there for the team and that support helped a lot.”
The Super Eagles will continue their quest to qualify for the 2025 AFCON when they are guests of Benin in Abidjan on November 14, before they welcome Rwanda to Uyo four days later.
They lead the qualifying group with 10 points from four matches.
