NPFL ROUNDUP: Remo Stars reclaim top spot

Remo Stars are back on top of the NPFL standings even if provisionally after a 1-0 home win over a resolute Bendel Insurance today.

They now have 18 points from eight matches, while Rivers United, who have 17 points, will be away to Niger Tornadoes tomorrow.

Remo Stars went in front in the 43rd minute through Ghanaian forward Dela Akorli.

It will prove to be the only goal of this keenly fought contest.

Sunshine Stars climbed to fourth on the table courtesy of a 1-0 home win over Nasarawa United.

Opeoluwa Olufemi was the match winner in the 17th minute.

Both Enyimba and Plateau United lost ground in the title chase after they lost on the road.

Enyimba fell 1-0 at El Kanemi Warriors, while Plateau United were beaten 3-1 by hosts Abia Warriors.

Bayelsa United moved out of the relegation zone thanks to a 1-0 home win over struggling Heartland FC.

Kano Pillars, who were big winners at Enugu Rangers last weekend, had to come from behind to draw 1-1 with Kwara United.
