NPFL Goals Race: Veteran Rabiu Ali pushes for Goal King prize

Kano Pillars veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali is pushing to be the Goal King of the NPFL after he scored his 10th goal of the season Wednesday.

Rabiu Ali, at the grand old age of 44, tucked away a late second-half penalty for Kano Pillars to pip Akwa United in a Week 26 clash.

This was his fifth goal from the penalty spot.

Nasarawa United captain Anas Yusuf remains the leading scorer of the domestic championship after he fired his 14th goal of the season for his team to edge past league leaders Remo Stars in midweek in Lafia.

Ossy Martins of Lobi Stars is now third in the race for the NPFL Golden Boot as he has eight goals, same as Ibrahim Mustapha ‘Yuga’, who has quit El Kanemi Warriors to move to Albania.

There are as many as four players who have so far scored seven apiece – Antoine Ijoma, Stephen Megwo (Abia Warriors), Shola Adelani (Ikorodu City) and Emmanuel Igbole (Kwara United).

Igbole has since transferred to Libya.
