Nigerian striker Promise David is now showing up after a rather slow start to life in Belgium.
David, who was born in Canada, scored twice Sunday for Union Saint Gilloise to trounce league leaders Genk 4-0 in a Belgian Pro League clash.
David, who has been capped by the Nigeria U23s, has now scored four goals in nine appearances in the league since his arrival in the summer.
The 23-year-old powerfully-built striker has earned praise from his coach, who expects a lot more from him.
Union coach Sébastien Pocognoli remarked: “We were patient with him, and it’s slowly starting to pay off. Even today (Sunday) he had moments that weren’t so good. But we showed patience, and now… he scores!
“He has scored in every friendly we have played.
“He was still missing something in terms of intensity, in terms of consistency that he could have in a match.
“It is not surprising that he is scoring, but he still needs to find his rhythm.”
