The NFF are today racing against the clock to finalise a contract with new Super Eagles coach Bruno Labbadia, whose appointment they announced Tuesday, so that he will take charge of 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
The NFF now hope to conclude a contract with Labbadia today, according to top journalist Oluwashina Okeleji.
“Nigeria hoping to finalise contractual details with German coach Bruno Labbadia on Friday to enable him travel to Uyo and take charge of the Super Eagles in AFCON qualifying fixtures v Benin & Rwanda,” posted the BBC reporter on X.
“Desperate NFF announced Labbadia’s appointment without sorting T&C & contract.”
Further checks by SCORENigeria revealed that earlier several senior officials got no answer when they asked NFF president Ibrahim Gusau about the duration and salary of the coach.
Tuesday’s press statement by NFF that announced his appointment was also silent on these contractual details.
The Super Eagles open their 2025 AFCON qualifying series in Uyo on Saturday, September 7, before another game in Rwanda three days later.
