NFF president Ibrahim Gusau has promised that despite a poor start the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2026 World Cup and also win the 2025 AFCON.
The Super Eagles are second bottom of their 2026 World Cup qualifying group, while they top the standings in the qualifying series for the 2025 AFCON.
“I have much confidence that we will qualify for the next World Cup in 2026,” Gusau stated
“I know we have had a bad start, three points in four matches, but we have made progress by the momentum now gathered by the Super Eagles,” he said.
“Going forward, all the players now know what is at stake and we will surely support the team.”
Gusau also promised to deliver a fourth AFCON trophy for the country after the Eagles narrowly missed out on the top prize earlier this year.
“We are on course to winning our fourth AFCON in Morocco, that will be our breakthrough,” he said.
He said the process of employing a substantive coach for the Super Eagles will continue so that the team will soon be “at the level they deserve to be”.
