The NFF leadership has been widely slammed for incompetence and lacking capacity after it bungled the appointment of a new coach for the Super Eagles.
German coach Bruno Labbadia has sensationally walked away from the Super Eagles top post after contractual talks broke down with the NFF, who had prematurely announced his appointment earlier this week without an agreement.
Top journalist Osasu Obayiuwana blasted this latest piece of incompetence by the football federation.
“#Nigeria, can you see how useless @thenff is? What a frigging mess,” he posted on X.
“The only news that will make sense now is the resignation of NFF chairman (president), dude has failed to hire a coach since his tenure started, has been unable to sign a coach, sheer incompetence, Super Eagles now a joke under him,” posted @Don17488409 on X
“@IbrahimMusaGus1 led @thenff for how long will you guys keep embarrassing us as a nation?” asked a baffled @genero_johnel
“Announcement of coach without contract signed and unveiling the coach immediately is not done in this modern era.”
An angry fan Chinedu Bishop was equally scathing in his criticism of the NFF on a Lagos radio phone-in programme.
“The NFF don’t know what they are doing. They have always embarrassed us internationally,” he lambasted.
“They are ruining Nigerian football, not running it.”
“Was it not too long ago that the NFF employed another German, Berti Vogts, as Super Eagles coach and now they don’t know the new coach will also have to pay tax in Germany from his earnings in Nigeria?,” wondered Bashir Sulaiman, a student based in Abuja.
“The NFF should tell us another story.
“They are pathetic.”
“Now I don’t expect the Super Eagles to qualify for both the AFCON and World Cup,” he summed up.
