‘New coach will get best of Osimhen for Super Eagles’

Victor Osimhen will be one of the players to get the best under new Super Eagles coach Bruno Labbadia, according to former international Jonathan Akpoborie.

Labbadia was a striker during his playing days and Akpoborie said he believes he will bring out the best from Osimhen in the national team.

“He was a striker, who finishes well inside the box, like Osimhen, so Osimhen will be one of the players to benefit from him,” he said.

“Also, the Super Eagles have not been playing to the strength of Osimhen, but this will change under this coach and then we will see the real victor Osimhen in the Super Eagles.”

Akpoborie also said another star striker Victor Boniface, who features in the Bundesliga, will be “unlocked” for the Super Eagles by the new coach.

Both Osimhen and Victor Boniface have been called up for Labbadia’s first match in charge in a 2025 AFCON qualifier against Benin in Uyo on September 7
