Rwanda have already announced a provisional squad for next month’s 2025 AFCON qualifier against Nigeria, but as has been the case since the Super Eagles are yet to do same as questions are now being asked about such list.
The biggest question now is that with a head coach not in place who and how has the Super Eagles enlarged squad for the qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda been compiled.
The NFF technical department headed by Augustine Eguavoen has been known to step in to salvage such a situation.
Officials said this was the case about the time Finidi George was appointed substantive coach of the Super Eagles.
The question now is whether the Super Eagles new coach in waiting Janne Andersson has had his input on such a squad list as the NFF are still in talks with him over the Super Eagles top post.
In another instance, would he be comfortable with a squad that he did not put together himself because of the lateness of his appointment?
Inside sources also allege that several questionable names have often found their way into such squad list for personal gains and interest.
It has been known that a Super Eagles call-up can go a long way in favourably swaying the contractual situation of a player.
