Mohbad: Hundreds of Youths protest in Abeokuta, dare Naira Marley and Sam Larry to come out of hiding
On Tuesday, hundreds of youths took to the streets of Abeokuta, Ogun State, to protest the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The protesters, who carried placards with inscriptions such as “Justice for Mohbad” and “Government Must Arrest Naira Marley and Sam Larry,” called on the authorities to investigate the singer’s death and bring those responsible to justice.
The protest came after the Lagos State government announced that it was investigating the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death. The singer, who was a former signee of Marlian Records, owned by Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, died at the age of 27 on September 12. The cause of his death is still unknown.
The protesters in Abeokuta called on the government to arrest Naira Marley and Sam Larry, who are both mentioned in the investigation into Mohbad’s death. They also demanded that other persons mentioned in the investigation be duly invited for questioning.
The protest was peaceful, and the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other sister organizations were on the ground to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
