Information and Media Minister CHUSHI KASANDA has called on Media Organisations to come up with workable policies and strategies to deal with sexual harassment in work places.

Ms. KASANDA says mechanisms should be put in place on how to handle complaints of sexual harassment and act on them decisively.

She says government is concerned with reports of sexual violence in the media, with female journalists being the major victims.

This was contained in a speech read on her behalf by Ministry of Information Permanent Secretary KENNEDY KALUNGA during a conference on sexual harassment convened by Women in News Africa in Lusaka today.

And Women in News Country Director EMELDA MUSONDA said sexual harassment cases are high in the media and that the silence around the subject is worrying.

Meanwhile, Women in News Deputy Executive Director JANE GODIA noted that sexual harassment is a great barrier to the progression of women and men in the media industry.
