Like Rohr, Rwanda coach backs Super Eagles to win 2025 AFCON group

Like coach Gernot Rohr, Rwanda German coach Torsten Spittler has said the Super Eagles will win a 2025 AFCON group, while his team and Benin will have to battle for the second qualification ticket.

“It’s a difficult group but in the end Nigeria will win the group,” Spittler predicted.

“It will be Benin and us (Rwanda) who will fight for the second place.”

Rwanda and Benin will do battle in a double header next month in continuation of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

“They won’t be easy games and we also lost to Benin 1-0 (in 2026 World Cup qualifiers),” the German coach said.

The Rwanda coach admitted his team were lucky to hold the star-studded Super Eagles to a goalless draw in Kigali.

“We worked hard, but we were also lucky,” he admitted.

“Our goalkeeper was good and made some good saves.”

He added: “The draw was a very good result for us.

“My team of no-names up against a strong Nigeria team with world-class players.”
