Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu invites DSS to join Police probe of Mohbad’s death

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has invited the Department of State Services (DSS) to join the police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Mohbad died on Tuesday, September 13, 2023, and was buried in the Ikorodu area of Lagos on Wednesday, September 14, 2023. His death sent shockwaves through the Nigerian music industry and beyond.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 20, 2023, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the DSS had been invited to join the investigation in order to “boost the investigations, widen the dragnet with inter-agency collaboration and use of best in class technology to unearth the truth.”

The governor also urged anyone with vital information to assist the investigation. He also appealed to friends and fans of the deceased to stay calm and refrain from making inflammatory utterances.

“The Police and the DSS have promised to brief the public on their efforts periodically,” the statement read.

“I also appeal to all friends and fans of the deceased to stay calm and refrain from making inflammatory utterances and reaching prejudicial conclusions on this matter. Staying calm and following the process will be our most solemn tribute to the memory of the departed talent.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu concluded the statement by commiserating with the family, friends, colleagues, and fans of the late singer.
