Jeezy Jenkins says therapy couldn’t save marriage, speaks on Jeannie Mai divorce

US rapper Jeezy Jenkins has spoken up for the first time since news about him divorcing his wife Jeannie Mai hit the headlines.

Rumours had it that he filed for divorce without his wife’s knowledge, and weeks after they returned from their Vietnam trip where he visited her hometown.

In an interview with actress Nia Long, Jeezy claimed his life goals got to a place that was aligned with his marital goals.

He also emphasised that no amount of therapy would have saved his marriage which made him choose to walk out.

“This has not been an easy journey. I can tell you that I’m saddened. I can tell you I’m disappointed. I can tell you that I’m uneasy,” he said.

Jeezy also admitted that he tried going to therapy so he could fix his marital problems but later found out he could only do what was in his capacity.

“I can only do what I can do. I can’t expect someone else to do what I’m doing,” said the 46-year-old.

The Leave You Alone crooner also added that he believes God has put him on a different path than the one he was on with his estranged wife.

“And that path is going to entail for me to take care of myself. And love myself,” he further said.

Jeannie speaks up after divorce

The rapper’s wife recently alerted fans that she was taking a hiatus from social media to work on her healing.

According to sources, Jeannie’s mum may have contributed to their marriage coming to an end which caught the TV host by surprise.

Back in 2021, Mai revealed falling in love with Jeezy made her change her stance on never having kids.

“One of the first things we talked about was whether or not we wanted to have children. He was very upfront about how he already had two beautiful children, and I was very upfront about the fact that I did not want to have children. It seemed relieving that there was no pressure about children,” she said.

A few months ago, Academy Award winner Al Pacino at age 83, welcomed their son, Roman Pacino, with 29-year-old lover Noor Alfallah.
