Ighalo rallies support for ‘pained’ Osimhen

Odion Ighalo has urged fellow Nigerians to support and not add to pains of Victor Osimhen at a time when his career is at crossroads.

Osimhen was a direct replacement for Ighalo in the Super Eagles and veteran striker said he has been disappointed with some of the comments he has come across against the Napoli striker at this time.

However, he said he believes Osimhen will bounce back a stronger person and player.

“No human being is perfect and we have all made mistakes in life, but seeing comments about this young man from his own country people makes me really sad, without even knowing what happened,” he posted today on X.

“I spoke to him and I can feel the pain in his voice, the way he’s been treated, this young man plays with heart and pains for his country, Hmmm it’s well, he will definitely be back stronger, we learn every day in life.”

His club Napoli, who he has a contract with until June 2026, have not registered him for the new season and should he not eventually move in this transfer window, he will train with the U19s.

Coach Antonio Conte said that is the decision of the club and there’s no going back.
