Former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye, who has played in the Premier League in England, is set to join table-topping Rivers United in the NPFL, club officials said.
Super Eagles stars Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi have rejoined former NPFL club Kano Pillars after their sojourn in Europe, while several former internationals like Finidi George, Emmanuel Amuneke and Daniel Amokachi are now in charge of top local clubs.
Ideye, who featured for West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League eight years ago and has also played in the top leagues in France, Ukraine, Greece and Switzerland, is in line to join the bandwagon.
Earlier this week, Ideye was spotted in training with Rivers United.
Rivers United coach Finidi George has now said the experienced striker is likely to sign for the Port Harcourt side.
“There is every likelihood that he’ll join us. He wants to give back, that’s the most important thing,” Finidi said.
“He has that hunger, we’ve seen Ahmed Musa, and if he’s willing to do that, I think we’ll welcome him.”
