Flying Eagles confident of victory after spying on Cote d’Ivoire

The Flying Eagles are in bullish mood of advancing to the semifinals of the U20 AFCON qualifiers after they watched from the stands as Cote d’Ivoire beat Burkina Faso 1-0 to throw wide open Group B.

Monday’s Ivorian victory meant both Burkina Faso and the Young Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire are tied on three points each, while the Flying Eagles remain without any points.

However, the Flying Eagles will go through to the next round with a win against Cote d’Ivoire Thursday.

“We would probably have wanted Burkina Faso to win the game and do us a big favour, but the win by Cote d’Ivoire is not too bad for us,” a team official told SCORENigeria

“We now all know what we have to do on Thursday.

“Team spirit is very high after we all were at the stadium to watch the match between Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire.”

The official added: “It’s a match we can win because the Ivorians want to play football and that way they will also give us the space to express ourselves.

“That was not the case in our opening game against the very physical Burkinabes, who simply bullied us and refused us to play.”

The Flying Eagles will train again from 9am local time (10am in Nigeria) to perfect their game plan for the must-win match against the Young Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.
