High-flying Flamingos of Nigeria look set to battle the USA for a place in the semifinal of this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
Incidentally, both teams also clashed in the same round of the competition two years ago in India.
The Flamingos went through to the semis 4-3 on penalties after scores at fulltime stood at 1-1.
In this year’s tournament, the USA have bounced back from an opening day 3-1 loss to rampant Spain to beat closest rivals Colombia 2-0 to climb to second place in Group B.
The winners of Group A, which are likely to be the Flamingos, will take on the runners-up in Group B, which currently are USA.
The semifinal will be staged on Saturday.
The Flamingos will play their final group game versus hosts Dominican Republic Tuesday midnight.
