Flamingos dump South Africa for World Cup playoff vs Algeria or Botswana

The Flamingos today eliminated their South African counterparts 5-1 on aggregate to set up a 2025 U17 Women’s World Cup qualifying playoff against either Algeria or Botswana.

Harmony Chidi opened scoring against South Africa in the 37th minute, before Aishat Animashaun doubled the lead early in the second half.

The Flamingos won the first leg in South Africa 3-1 a week ago.

They will now battle either Algeria or Botswana for the chance to feature at this year’s World Cup in Morocco.
