EXCLUSIVE: Super Eagles in showdown talks with NFF over unpaid bonuses

A senior Super Eagles player has told SCORENigeria the team will meet with the NFF leadership during next month’s 2025 AFCON qualifiers over the payment of outstanding bonuses and allowances going back to 2021.

The NFF have paid the Super Eagles their share of the $4 Million prize after they were beaten in the final of the 2023 AFCON in February.

However, the main issue remains unpaid bonuses and allowances of at least 26 international matches due the team and dating as far back as 2021.

These unpaid monies were covered by a special bailout fund approved by President Bola Tinubu in January, but are yet to be paid to the team.

“We have received the bonuses in Naira for the win over Sierra Leone in Abuja and our win over Sao Tome in Uyo, otherwise we are yet to get anything more,” the senior player informed SCORENigeria

“I can show you my bank account that the NFF are still to pay us the bonuses and allowances they owe us.”

As reported by SCORENigeria, the NFF recently paid the World Cup-bound Falconets their own outstanding monies covered by the special Presidential bailout fund.

The Super Eagles, the Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets are the other national teams yet to be paid.
