EXCLUSIVE: Major blow hits Flying Eagles as top star Daniel Daga misses U20 AFCON qualifiers

The Flying Eagles will be in Togo for the WAFU B U20 AFCON qualifying tournament without star midfielder Daniel Daga.

A top team official informed SCORENigeria that coach Aliyu Zubairu has been forced to withdraw Daga from the final squad to Lome, Togo, because he cannot produce his international passport for the trip.

“Daga is out of the squad,” the official informed while giving an explanation for this absence.

It was further gathered that the passport is at a foreign embassy in respect of a visa application for him to begin his professional career in January, when he would have clocked 18 years.

SCORENigeria has already broke the news that the mercurial defensive midfielder has agreed a pre-contract with top Norwegian club Molde and he will soon depart for Norway in this regard.

Ironically, Daga came to prominence two years ago at the WAFU B U20 AFCON qualifiers in Niger, where he caught the eye at the tender age of 15.

He won several Man of the Match awards and was named in the tournament Best XI as the Flying Eagles topped the sub-regional competition at the expense of Benin.
