EXCLUSIVE: Governors, top officials listed on Presidential Task Force to deliver Super Eagles 2026 World Cup ticket

SCORENigeria has exclusively gathered that at least three serving Executive Governors have been listed on a Presidential Task Force that will now ensure the Super Eagles do the near impossible and qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, we have scooped are on board of the Presidential Task Force.

Owner of NPFL club Remo Stars Kunle Soname, who has in recent months become one of the biggest promoters of Nigeria football through his airline and sports facility in Ikenne, is also set to be named on this high-profile committee.

Former Minister Babatunde Raji Fashola, a football buff, is also on the PTF and so too former Sports Minister Sunday Dare.

The PTF will be inaugurated in the New Year and will hit the ground running, sources informed SCORENigeria

It needed a PTF for Nigeria to salvage their qualifying campaign to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The Super Eagles World Cup hopes are in shambles after they failed to win in four rounds of qualifying games.

They languish second from bottom with three points with only the overall winners of the qualifying section guaranteed automatic passage to the 2026 World Cup to be staged by USA, Canada and Mexico.

In March 2025, they visit leaders Rwanda, who have seven points, before a home game against bottom team Zimbabwe.

South Africa and Benin, who also have seven points each, as well as Lesotho are the other teams in this group.
