SCORENigeria has specially learnt that coach Eric Chelle has “a few surprises” in his final squad list for next month’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
It was gathered that the coach now has his final 23-man squad for the World Cup qualifiers barring any last-minute injuries.
A source informed SCORENigeria that at least two of the players on this list are making a return after several months out of the national team set-up, while an uncapped defender has also been included.
“The coach has retained the core of the squad who qualified Nigeria to the 2025 AFCON, but there are still a few surprises,” the source revealed.
“The coach wants only the best players for the matches next month.”
The Super Eagles cannot afford to drop points as they languish second from bottom in Group C with three points from four matches.
Rwanda top the group with seven points, while Zimbabwe are bottom on two points.
