NFF technical director Augustine Eguavoen has maintained that coach Eric Chelle has the final decision on the Super Eagles squad for must-win 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The new Super Eagles coach has trimmed his provisional squad to a 23-man squad for the qualifiers against Rwanda (March 21) and Zimbabwe (March 25).
These games will be the first for the former Mali coach since he was appointed in January.
“Eric Chelle took his time to put these names together,” said Eguavoen, who qualified Nigeria to the 2025 AFCON in a temporary charge of the team.
“If he wants to discuss it, that’s fine, but he has the final say.”
The Super Eagles squad for the qualifiers has two players from the domestic league – goalkeeper Kayode Bankole and midfielder Papa Daniel.
