Caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has admitted Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s late match winner against visiting Libya tonight in Uyo was a huge relief for the Super Eagles.
“It was a huge relief for me and the boys,” Eguavoen said after his team’s 1-0 win in a 2025 AFCON qualifier.
“When the goal came, it was a big relief.
“But I expected us to score more goals.
“Overall, we’re happy, we’re still top of the group.”
‘Cerezo’ said Libya only opened up their play when the Super Eagles broke the deadlock.
“They are a good side, they should play, when we scored, they came out,” he said.
“They defended in numbers in front of their goalkeeper.”
Eguavoen’s Super Eagles record now stands at 15 wins, four draws and six losses in 25 matches.

Great one
The libyans were afraid to play the super eagles, aiming to get a draw by wasting time and feinting frivolous injuries to boot but alas they still went down. I belive caf would throw the books at them for this misbehaviour.
