Dessers set to be picked ahead of Onuachu, Arokodare

Cyriel Dessers, who last played for the Super Eagles a year ago against Ghana, is now set to be selected by coach Eric Chelle as one of the strikers for the upcoming must-win 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

As expected, Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface will be the top-choice strikers, while Dessers is now poised to be one of the two back-up players in the Super Eagles strike force.

Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare made the provisional squad for these qualifiers, but last week Dessers made a strong claim for a place on the final list after he scored a goal and made an assist for his Scottish club Rangers to shock home team Fenerbache 3-1 in a UEFA Europa League Round of 16 clash.
