Daniel Regha calls out Sabinus and Pete Edochie
Despite the humour, Nigerian social media critic Daniel Regha publicly criticised the comedy skit and described it as unfunny and culturally damaging.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Regha expressed concern over the depiction of ritualistic themes in the skit.
He warned that such portrayals contribute to negative stereotypes about Nigeria on the global stage.
“Sabinus’ skit with Pete Edochie wasn’t really funny,” Regha wrote. “Nigeria, being a country that’s all too ritualistic, is a narrative that has led to certain stigmatisation across the globe, and we can’t keep portraying ourselves like this all the time, unless it’s to address an issue.”

“I personally haven’t seen the skit yet but from this post, I’ll say for the first time I agree with Daniel. People only see the image of us we portray for them to see. If this is the image we want people to have of us as a country then let’s keep painting it.”
@CorruptionIzBad said:
“We can’t keep projecting ourselves this way unless it’s done to challenge or correct the problem. Sadly, many Nigerians laugh it off because they don’t care about the real issues, our sinking economy, the insecurity swallowing communities, and leaders who have failed us completely. The truth is, skits and comedy won’t save us if we keep normalising the wrong narratives while the country burns.”
@BhadJayy said:
“I said this same thing lol. Sabinus time has passed. He should move on abeg.”
@LaVidaMercy said:
“The skit was hilarious abeg. Not every content has to carry the weight of Nigeria’s image on its back. Daniel just chose to wear his saddist cap today.”
@MichaelAdeitan said:
Nigeria isn’t a joke, even if skits are. Pete and Sabinus: maybe use your talent to highlight truth, not just punchlines. 😂.”

“Daniel it was funny, you can just say you don’t find it funny and we’ll know it’s your personal problem.”
