Popular Nigerian dancer Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau, best known as Kaffy, has shared the difficulties she is experiencing in her personal life as a result of her divorce.
During a recent interview, the 45-year-old artist admitted that many men are hesitant to marry her because she is a single mother of two children.
Kaffy opens up on stigma, strength, and second chances in love.

She criticised the traditional stigma associated with divorced women, questioning why people believe a woman with children is less desirable, despite statistics showing that many marriages end in divorce.
Kaffy also stated that divorced individuals who have worked on themselves may make better partners than unmarried people.
She emphasised that more than 70% of marriages fail, and that genuine love should bring calm and security rather than tension.
“I’ve had someone tell me that because I’m a single mother, they can’t even think about dating me because I have two children.
“Ninety-nine percent of the people who criticize me about my marriage are either not married today or have left their marriages. What makes you think that a woman who has been divorced isn’t a better candidate if she has worked on herself? What guarantees that the two single people today won’t both end up divorced tomorrow?
“Why do people feel the need to marry someone fresh? But both of you are entering into the same data that the world has already computed for you. Over 70% of marriages crash. You’re part of that 70%. There’s just so much to consider. Do you know that a lot of ‘butterflies in the tummy’ are actually a trauma response? Real love brings peace, not butterflies. Real love should not make you anxious. You shouldn’t be with someone who makes you feel uneasy. I can imagine Daddy Freeze now, as he’s here, and he’s thinking about what taste buds are doing in the house. He’s at peace. I’m still healing from those anxious feelings because whenever I feel like I’m being tested, I ask myself, ‘Why would you do this to me?’ I’m 45, but I’ve spent the last 10 years of my adult life trying to fix things. My children were looking at us, and I’m like, ‘Go, if you have to leave.’ Oh, really? Oh, yeah. You think I’m irresponsible?”

A Nigerian man who claimed to have worked with Kaffy shared an alleged experience he had with the choreographer.
According to him, being a single mom is the reason men don’t want to marry the dancer.
He recounted how Kaffy authoritatively spoke to him when they worked together and ordered him to refer to her as “Dr Kaffy”.
“No, sweetheart, that’s not the reason. We were working on a project together one time, and she warned me seriously that I must always call her ‘Dr Kaffy’. She spoke to me, a 40+ man, like I was her child. I was coordinating a major aspect of the project.”
