- American singer Chris Brown disappeared from Instagram after a viral performance with Kayla Nicole
- News reports revealed that fans dug up old accusations of colorism despite the Grammy winner’s fiery clapback.
- Kayla Nicole’s reaction also added some fuel to the heated online conversation with fans commenting
American R&B star Chris Brown has pulled the plug on his Instagram account just days after his performance at the Breezy Bowl XX in Los Angeles.
The singer, who has often been in the eye of controversy, deactivated his account following an intense online debate sparked by his onstage lap dance with sports journalist and media personality Kayla Nicole, reports Yahoo News
The singer, known for turning his live shows into spectacle, brought Nicole onstage during his 2007 hit Take You Down.

Reclining on a red chaise, she became part of one of his signature routines as the crowd screamed in excitement.
At one point, he kissed her leg, and the chemistry between them was undeniable.
But while concertgoers celebrated the moment, the online world turned the spotlight on him in a very different way.
Shortly after clips of the lap dance went viral, critics resurfaced long-standing allegations against Brown, accusing him once again of favoring lighter-skinned women.
The narrative hit harder when Nicole, who is the ex-girlfriend of NFL star Travis Kelce, shared her own excitement on Instagram.
She stated that she did it for “the teenage me blasting CB in her bedroom” and, most importantly, “for my brown girls.”
Instead of calming things down, her words reignited a debate about Brown’s alleged colorism.
Some X users went as far as calling him “a colorist,” pointing out his past controversies, including a 2023 incident where two women in the U.K. claimed they were denied VIP entry at one of his parties due to their skin tone.
Brown initially fought back on his Instagram Story, writing:
“Miss me with that colorist rage baiting!!!”
But as criticism mounted, the singer finally lost patience.
He wrote:
“Ima take a break from social media. Y’all done pissed me off long enough,” before deleting his entire Instagram account by Monday morning.
For an artist who uses Instagram heavily to connect with fans and promote his music, the sudden move raised eyebrows.
Fans weigh in online
While some fans felt his exit was overdue, others expressed disappointment at how quickly things escalated.
@DejiOfLagos:
“Chris Brown no fit stay one week without wahala. From Rihanna matter to colorism gist, now na Kayla lap dance. Omo, this guy too dey trend for wrong reasons.”
@Ada_baby:
“So after all the dragging, baba just vex deactivate Instagram. Abeg who go tell am say na we Nigerians still dey stream him songs steady?”
@YoungPrince01:
“Kayla Nicole sef don win. She collect lap dance, enjoy herself, and still trend worldwide. Brown girls go use this gist yarn for months.”
