Charly Boy has shared what happened after the controversial Lagos bus stop renaming drama that saw “Charly Boy Bus Stop” changed to “Olamide Bus Stop.”
The self-styled Area Fada admitted that the development, alongside the tribal sentiments that surrounded it, took a toll on his mental health and pushed him to take a step back.
In a post, the singer and activist revealed that he travelled to Europe to recharge and reboot after the episode.

According to him, the environment was becoming too toxic, and he didn’t want to drown in people’s madness.
He wrote:
“Oyibo people talk say, if you stay in sh*t long enough, you go smell like one. Na so I come japa go Europe go visit my bro Dr Alban”
He explained that although he planned to stay for three weeks, he couldn’t even manage two weeks abroad before rushing back to Nigeria, admitting it felt like something kept pulling him home.
The singer used the opportunity to open up about mental health, stressing that even people who appear strong also struggle.
He confessed that depression is not weakness, nor is it a taboo, but a real issue that more Nigerians need to take seriously.
He wrote:
“Some people no even get where to run to. Dem dey stuck with their pain, smiling on the outside but bleeding inside. If Area Fada fit admit say sometimes e dey choke, you too no need pretend”

Charly Boy visits Olamide Baddo Bus Stop
TheTalk.NG earlier reported that Charly Boy paid a visit to the Olamide Baddo Bus Stop, formerly named after him, and made jests of those who orchestrated the change.
The 75-year-old poked fun at the idea, saying that if they can rename the bus stop, maybe they’ll name an airport after a DJ or call the National Assembly “Comedy Central.”
He remained unbothered, stating that life is too short to stress over a bus stop name change, especially when he’s doing just fine.
