CHAN Eagles boosted by fresh call-ups ahead of Jollof Derby vs Ghana

The CHAN Eagles have been boosted with fresh call-ups ahead of next month’s Jollof Derby against Ghana, which is a final playoff for the 2025 CHAN in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

Nigeria will be away to Ghana in the first leg of an African Nations Championship playoffs between December 20 and 22, 2024, with the return leg a week later.

The winners over two legs will advance to the 8th edition of the competition exclusively reserved for players plying their trade in their country’s domestic league in Africa.

The Super Eagles B team is set to welcome a 32-man roster for the second phase of training camp.

The fresh call-ups include Abia Warriors trio of Sunday Megwo, Ayodele Ezekiel and Ali Ishaku

They therefore join teammate Innocent Godwin, who made the first list of invited players.

Centre-forward Sunday Megwo is currently Abia Warriors leading goal scorer with four goals, winger, Ayodele Ezekiel was last season’s revelation, while goalkeeper Ali Ishaku was outstanding at last season’s President Federation Cup.

Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole as well as Lobi Stars duo of Suur Kumaga and Ossy Martins have also been invited.

Experienced winger Bernard Ovoke will join the camp alongside Aniekeme Okon and Ubong Friday from Rivers United.

U23 star with prior national team experience from Water FC Dominion Ohaka is also called up to the squad.

Others players include Kano Pillars trio of Abiam Nelson, Aminu Adams and Sudais Alibaba.

The training camp will be led by coaches Fidelis Ikechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede as NFF technical director Augustine Eguaveon is out of the country.
