Tolu Arokodare has said his ninth goal of the season tasted “extra sweet” as he celebrated his 24th birthday and Genk bounced back from a heavy defeat at Union St.Gilloise to beat Charleroi 3-0.
League leading scorer Arokodare opened scoring for the home team after 77 minutes before Genk made it safe with two more goals thereafter.
“This victory feels good, but it was not an easy match. Especially in the first half we had a hard time,” the striker commented.
“We kept believing and rewarded ourselves.
“The dance during the celebration is one from the old box.
“Especially on my birthday it tastes extra sweet to score and also help the team.
“We have to remember the positive elements and take them with us to the derby next week.”
Genk consolidated top spot with 34 points from 15 matcches, six points ahead of second-placed Club Brugge.
