Benjamin Tanimu stages surprise return to Super Eagles

Benjamin Tanimu, who has signed for English club Crawley Town, has made a surprise return to the Super Eagles for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.

The former Bendel Insurance defender was not originally named in a final 23-man squad.

He has joined the training camp along with AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze.

Tanimu, who previously played in Tanzania, made his Super Eagles debut against Ghana in March.

He was also called up for the 2016 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin, but has yet to convince.

His transfer to England was reportedly brokered by the agent of Super Eagles stand-in captain William Ekong.

There are now 18 players in camp.
