Arokodare: I take blame for Genk first loss

Belgian league leaders Genk suffered their first defeat this season and striker Tolu Arokodare said he is one of the players to blame because he was not clinical in front of goal.

Genk were shocked by bottom team KV Kortrijk 2-1 Saturday.

“The team are counting on me to score,” league leading scorer Arokodare told Het Belang van Limburg.

“Whether I start or come on as a substitute, it is still my job to score. I expect that of myself. I didn’t score, so I have to be tough on myself. Chances like this cost us points. You saw that.”

The rest of the Genk team also failed to make the most of the chances they created.

“We were unlucky in our finishing,” admitted Arokodare.

“The keeper also played a very strong match. But even then, I keep getting chances, but I also have to finish them.

“I have to work on my finishing. I have to work on that in the coming weeks.”

Arokodare leads the goals’ chart in Belgium with six goals.
