Ademola Lookman: It will be dream come true to be African Player of Year

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has said it will be a dream come true to be crowned CAF African Player of the Year.

The Atalanta star is overwhelming favourite for the top gong and he has made the final five-man shortlist for the top continental award with the ceremony fixed for December 16 in Morocco.

“It’s an honour to be nominated for this prestigious award. Of course, anyone who is nominated would like to win it. It’s a dream!,” he said.

Ademola Lookman was the match winner in Friday night’s 2-1 home win over AC Milan for Atalanta to go top of the Serie A standings.

He commended the team for their ninth straight Serie A match.

“It’s a very important game against a very strong team that is doing well in the League. We performed well, three big points and we continue like this,” he said.

“I think we just continue to play the way we play, match by match. We believe in ourselves as a team, so we continue like this and stay together.”

Atalanta will next welcome Real Madrid Tuesday night with the aim to seal qualification of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Both teams clashed in the UEFA Super Cup, the European season curtain raiser, with Real Madrid comfortable 2-0 winners.
