After the withdrawal of Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella from must-win 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month due to injury, the Super Eagles face yet another major concern after it was gathered that FC Nantes winger Moses Simon has missed training most of this week also on account of injury.
According to Nantes coach Antoine Kombouaré, Simon has not participated in team training session throughout this week.
“He hasn’t trained all week. He stayed in the gym on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday but completed today’s session. His ankle is still hurting. There’s obviously some concern. We’re managing it, but for him, it’s complicated,” Kombouaré told Ouest-France.
Simon has always been a key player for the Super Eagles over the years with his consistent ability to unlock stubborn defences being a major testament to this fact.
However, peradventure Moses Simon fails to return from injury, Sevilla winger Chidera Ejuke is one worthy of being a replacement, as the 27 year old plays in a style similar to the Nantes forward, and also scored a fine match winner against Real Sociedad over the weekend.
